Simultaneously improving multiple imaging parameters with scattering media

نویسندگان

چکیده

Traditional optical imaging systems can provide high-quality with a complicated and expensive design by eliminating aberrations. With the help of an memory effect, rather than independently improving single parameter, simultaneous improvement several parameters adding scattering media to is, best our knowledge, demonstrated for first time. As example, in simple lens system, addition depth field being greatly improved, spherical aberration, coma chromatic aberration are simultaneously eliminated placing medium between camera. The results indicate potential applications many fields such as imaging, measurements, biomedical applications.

Stereoscopic imaging through scattering media.

We develop and experimentally test a method for three-dimensional imaging of hidden objects in a scattering medium. In our scheme, objects hidden between two biological tissues at different depths from the viewing system are recovered, and their three-dimensional locations are computed. Analogous to a fly's two eyes, two microlens arrays are used to observe the hidden objects from different per...

Imaging in Highly Scattering Media

Research on developing ‘imaging’methods for turbidmedia holds promise for applications in medicine and biology. Mammography in particular can benefit from an alternate diagnostic tool that does not involve either ionizing radiation or expensive measurement apparatus — particularly a method that holds promise of being able to differentiate between tissue types that x-ray mammography cannot. The ...

Multiple scattering in evolving media

techniques that are used, for example, in radar and in seismic exploration. If one knows the arrival time of a singly scattered wave, along with its velocity and direction of propagation, one can determine the location of the scatterer. For multiply scattered waves it is more difficult to determine the locations of the scatterers because the waves propagate over many possible scattering traject...

Analysis of multiple scattering suppression using structured laser illumination planar imaging in scattering and fluorescing media.

The accuracy, precision and limitations of the imaging technique named Structured Laser Illumination Planar Imaging (SLIPI) have been investigated. SLIPI, which allows multiply scattered light to be diminished, has previously demonstrated improvements in image quality and contrast for spray imaging. In the current study the method is applied to a controlled confined environment consisting of a ...

Imaging moving targets through scattering media.

Optical microscopy in complex, inhomogeneous media is challenging due to the presence of multiply scattered light that limits the depths at which diffraction-limited resolution can be achieved. One way to circumvent the degradation in resolution is to use speckle- correlation-based imaging (SCI) techniques, which permit imaging of objects inside scattering media at diffraction-limited resolutio...
